Who I Am

Mission

I develop and implement engaging programs that highlight and expose how history and interpretation shape our society, while forging meaningful, lasting connections between museums and their surrounding community.

Vision

I will be a leader in the fields of museum education and administration, engaging communities in socially responsible ways that matter, and working to heal historical and racial trauma.

Values

Transparent Interpretation: Any museum visitor must understand that any narrative they encounter is an interpretation - one that has been intentionally created.

Inclusion: History has not been kind to all and it is imperative that museums work diligently to bridge the divides between groups of all genders, races, and cultures to create safe and useful spaces for all.

Engagement: If museums are to establish lasting connections we must deliberately create ways for audiences of all backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles to engage with the exhibits and programs we create.

Civic Dialogue: In order to create meaningful and enduring connections within our communities, we must root our practices in the method of civic dialogue which focuses on listening, understanding, and reflecting - not arguing or winning.

Healing: As developers of museum exhibits and programs we must consistently ask how we can help museum visitors, and the community at large, heal. In any way possible.
